FAMSEG FUNNIES:
Another funny from Howard...
Alice's wedding day was fast approaching.
Nothing could dampen her excitement -- not
even her parent's nasty divorce.
Her mother had found the PERFECT dress to wear and would be be the best dressed mother-of-the-bride ever!
A week later,
Alice was horrified to learn that her father's new young wife had bought the
exact same dress! Alice asked her to exchange it, but she refused. 'Absolutely not. I look like a million bucks in this dress and I'm wearing it,' she replied.
Alice told her mother who graciously said,
'Never mind sweetheart. I'll get another dress.
After all, it's your special day.'
A few days later, they went shopping and did find another gorgeous dress dress. When they stopped for lunch, Alice asked her mother, 'Aren't you going to return the other dress?
You really don't have another occasion where
you could wear it.
Her mother just smiled and replied, 'Of course I do, dear. I'm wearing it to the rehearsal
dinner the night before the wedding'.

SEASON'S GREETINGS
On behalf of your Chair, Scott Rubin, and your entire Executive Council, let me wish you all a joyful holiday season and best wishes to all for a happy, healthy and prosperous new year!
All too soon we will return to our normal routines, the holidays behind us and the lull that comes with it, a distant memory. Will your family and friends know that when all is said and done that it is they that matter most?
In the words of our Chair from a recent holiday greetings email to the Council:
Now is the time to remember not only the families that we represent, but our own. Too often our families and friends are forgotten in the press of what we do day in and day out. Take some time this holiday season to let your friends and families know that you care for them and that they are the most important things in your life. There will be time for everything else in just a few days.
Take your opportunities and resolve to make more in the new year; you can never show those you love that you care too much or too often.

TOP 10 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE MISSED THE FALL CRUISE RETREAT
by Scott Rubin, Esq.,
Family Law Section Chair
1. You would have learned what not to do when practicing before Magistrates Barbara Beilly and Norberto Katz, who to bring to mediation and how to be as prepared as Terry Fogel when going to mediation or trial. 2. You would have met and celebrated birthdays with three generations of Melinda Gamot's family and Maria Gonzalez' family. 3. You would have become an expert blackjack player as a result of Cynthia Greene's lessons and Sandi Perez' laminated instruction sheet. 4. All the food you could eat, any time of the day and night, shows each day and, oh yes, the casino. 5. Gift bags selected by Summer including a personal fan and a bottle of wine. 6. The first productive Executive Council meeting officially held in a bar. 7. A couple from the Family Law Section winning the Love and Marriage game show. 8. Key West...Fantasy Fest...Street Fair...use your imagination. 9. Hot stone massage...need I say more? And last, but definitely not least, 10. Magistrate Norberto Katz dancing the Macarena!!!

REMINDER
If you have any "backwater" (little to no Shepard's citations, seemingly little known, but still good law) cases that you pull out, dust off, and use from time-to-time, send it to us along with a "war story" where it helped carry the day. Send your submissions to Jack Moring at jmoring@moringlaw.com. | |
